A Note From Colleen
Hi, friend.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday week (if you’re celebrating). Mine was lovely. Quiet, spent with friends, eating a bit too much (as one does) and enjoying our first snow.
One thing I did NOT expect was a gut-punching lesson from Billy Bob Thornton.
Thanks for being here.
Cheers,
Colleen Kochannek, Publisher

YOU WON’T GET OVER IT
I was scrolling through TikTok during a 2am insomnia moment. There popped up a video of Billy Bob Thornton talking about losing his brother.
The message was simple: You will never get over it. And, the sooner you embrace this, the better off you’ll be.
This message hit HARD because it applies to life in general.
Whether it’s a great loss or making a bold move - hard feelings are inevitable.
The challenge, however, is we humans are determined to spend so much energy trying to avoid, circumvent, reduce, eliminate and short-cut hard feelings… that are simply unavoidable.
Billy Bob is right. The sooner we accept that we’ll have hard moments, the sooner we can get on with life.
In the case of losing a loved one, I can say from experience the grief never goes away. Eventually, it comes alongside. It becomes a part of life. It’s always there. Sometimes it’s overwhelming. Sometimes it’s quieter. But, it’s there.
In the case of putting yourself first and prioritizing what you want to do - there will always be a sense of fear.
Fear of the unknown. Fear of messing up. Fear of failing. Fear of looking like a fool. Fear of rejection.
Life is (always) hard and life is always good. In his interview, Billy Bob says he’s happy 50% of the time and sad 50% of the time.
I think this is about right.
The sooner we accept that fear is part of ‘daring greatly’ (in the words of Brene Brown), and the sooner we can accept fear as a partner, the sooner you can get on with that thing you’ve been dreaming about… forever.
I can’t remove the fear. Nobody can. But, I can help support you through it.
I invite you to check out The 3rd Act Collective.

A student of mine inside The 3rd Act Collective shared how she input her Thanksgiving Day meal plan recipes and told ChatGPT which grocery store she shopped at. Not only did ChatGPT build an entire shopping list, it told her exactly which aisle every ingredient would be.
The more I use AI, the more I am digging it.
How are you using AI to support your life? I am definitely interested in learning more applications. HIT REPLY and please share your prompts.
