"How did you move forward?" (You asked, I answered)

Seven years later, here's what I've learned about rebuilding after loss...

A Note From Colleen

Hi, friends!

Life feels heavy this week. Natural disasters beyond comprehension. The possibility of losing an app that has become a community and sanctuary. News stories that just never seem good.

In these times I just keep reminding myself to breathe. Look for the peace and contentment in the little stuff. I always lean on Trixie, my short and chunky dachshund for moments of levity.

I hope you’re doing well and finding peace where you are.

Cheers,

Is TikTok going away?

Nobody but the Supreme Course can answer this question.

But, if it does go away, what do we do?

Adapt.

That’s all we can do.

The possibility of losing TikTok is another reminder to not put all of our eggs in one basket as online entrepreneurs.

  1. Diversify platforms as soon as you have capacity.

  2. Start an email list as soon as you are able.

  3. Always expect change.

  4. Be prepared to adapt.

I’m incredibly sad to possibly lose TikTok. It’s a unique platform on which I have been able to build an incredible community of like-minded women.

I’m on other platforms, of course, but TikTok’s algorithm allows for conversations in a way other platforms don’t. I’m not down on other platforms, but TikTok has become a favorite.

What will I do?

I’ve fallen in love with video, live streaming especially.

I will try my hand at live-streaming on multiple platforms simultaneously. I’m going to return to an app called StreamYard that will enable me to do this. I’ve used it with success in the past so I feel like this is a good option.

I’m going to do some trial and error this week. If you happen to catch me live, be kind and patient while I figure this tech stuff out.

Going live on several platforms at once feels a bit daunting, if I am honest. Although I am not sure why it’s more nerve-wracking than going live on just one…

Once I get a little practice under my belt, I’ll let you know when I’ll be live and where you can join me.

In the meantime, I invite you to follow me where you consume social media, so we can stay in touch:

Of course, I’ll continue to post on all platforms, too.

I look forward to catching up with you… everywhere.
