You don’t have to start an entire ONLINE BUSINESS to have a simple online business. You need a digital product, or two, to sell.

And, by simple, I mean something you’re really good at doing that you could teach others to do - and it can 100% be something you think everyone already knows how to do.

They don’t. 

People pay for simplicity. Convenience. Certainty.

What’s something you do all of the time, that you enjoy doing, that somebody has said, “Oh, cool. I wish I could ____________________?”

Sell that.

Generating an extra thousand or two is doable. Easily doable, in fact.

You don’t have to start a full ONLINE BUSINESS to do this. You need a few digital products to sell.

These digital products need to be simple. Something you’re really good at and something others want to know how to do - easily.

Now, you might think that everybody knows how to do the thing you know how to do.

They don’t.

Zebra Cookies:

Let’s take an example: You make incredible zebra cookies. Shaped and decorated and all cute. You’re known for these zebra cookies. People look forward to them.

Of course, baking and decorating cookies isn’t really new.  Lots of people know how to decorate cookies. It’s now some one-of-a-kind, magical unicorn skill.

However, not everyone knows how to shape cookies like zebras and decorate them like zebras.

Sure, they could go to YouTube and wade through 36 videos, having to fast forward through fancy intros and outros, to learn, but they’d rather get a simple 2 or 3 page guide that walks them through each step - simply.

They want the convenience, simple instructions and the ability to make zebra cookies within an hour - shopping list included.

You can do this. You can build a simple Zebra Cookie 101 Guide… in an afternoon.

Your Zebra Cookie 101 Guide:

1. Head to your kitchen

2. Walk through each step as you create your zebra cookies. 

3. Document each step - in detail. Approach it like you’re teaching a 5 year old. 

4. Take a few pictures with your phone if you think it will clarify any steps.

5. Write out your detailed instructions, with pictures, in a Google Doc.

6. Head to Canva.com - search “Book Cover’ or build your own 8.5” x 11” cover from scratch (but there’s tons of templates ready to customize). Include a picture of a finished zebra cookie and title it “Zebra Cookies 101” (keep it simple and clear)

7. Download the cover from Canva

8. Attach the downloaded cover to the Google Doc instructions.

9. Save as a PDF file.

10. Voila!  Zebra Cookies 101 is officially a digital product.

Next steps: You need a way to sell your Zebra Cookies 101 product online. You need a FUNNEL (the online mechanism for selling online). I recommend Stan.Store. And, you’ll need a marketing plan - that you’ll actually be excited to do and not cringe at the thought.

We can chat more about these details later, but I want you to see how simple your digital product can be.

Maybe your Zebra Cookie 101 skill is building cool spreadsheets that auto-calculate household budgets. You create a sellable spreadsheet template. The customer fills in the blanks. The spreadsheet does the calculations.

Or, maybe your Zebra Cookies 101 is a “Feature Wall For Renters Guide”  -where renters can’t really change things permanently.

The Math to $1K Per Month:

Zebra Cookies 101 sells for $10.00

1. MONTH ONE: You sell 1 per day each month: $10x $30= $300

2. MONTH TWO: 2 per day for 30 days: $20 x $30 = $600

3. MONTH THREE: 3 per day for 30 days: $30 x $30 = $900

Yes, we’re not exactly at $1k, BUT… I guarantee the more you practice marketing your product, the better you’ll become. The math above is simplified.

Also, once you get one digital product going, it’s easy to add a second. Why not Giraffe Cookies 101? 

The Whole Point Is:

1. The product you create and sell does NOT have to represent some incredibly rare skill that nobody else has. People pay for simplicity and results.

2. It does not have to be a high ticket product.

3. Your product can be simple know-how because not everybody knows how to do it.

What know-how could you turn into a digital product in an afternoon?

I encourage you to think about starting an online business as more than ‘just a solution to money’, but as a way to do something you enjoy and get to make money with. It’s a life enhancer, not only a problem solver

Last week I talked about ordering an extra entree when I am eating out. This will feed me, easily, for two or three more days.

My quick win this week is my Air Fryer. I am in love with her. 

I re-heat entrees, re-crisp leftover pizza, and cook up chicken tenders in a few minutes. I rarely heat up my whole oven - I save that for special occasions.
